Home Organization Tips: Organization Ideas for the Home

You are probably here for one of two reasons… either a. you are like me and you are obsessed with organizing (Hi, hello, my people), or b. you are not obsessed with organizing and now you’re realizing you should be because your house is a mess and you can’t find anything (no judgment we’ve all been there). Having an organized home keeps your house easy to clean, looking neat, stops you from constantly losing things or re-buying products you already have at home, and it is just so satisfying. Whatever your reason is for coming to this post I hope you enjoy my Home Organization Tips and maybe find some inspiration. Now let’s get into my top Organization Ideas for the Home:

Tips for getting (and keeping) an organized home:

  1. Start by sorting through everything! and I mean everything. To get started you can pick a room per day, or even per week but in order to really keep things neat and organized it’s important to make sure you’re only keeping items you need, love, or use regularly. As for the items you don’t need, you can donate or sell the things that are in good condition and toss all of the old crap that is broken or useless.
  2. Make a place for everything. Whether it’s on display, in a closet or cabinet, in the garage, or under the bed make sure everything has a home and stays in that home.
  3. Use baskets, shelves, bins and containers to make sure everything is easy to find and in its place.
  4. Label your bins and baskets so everyone in the house knows where items belong and you can stick to your system. Check the list at the bottom of this post for some great labeling options.
  5. Make a habit of putting things back where they belong when they’re not in use. It’s so much easier to put things back right away than it is to clean a whole house when nothing is in its place.
  6. Regularly donate items you aren’t using, especially if you are purchasing new things. Don’t forget to try and sell the items that you don’t need that are in good condition. Poshmark, ebay, OfferUp, Facebook Marketplace and Craigslist are good places to sell old items. I’ve had great luck selling furniture on Facebook Marketplace and clothes on Poshmark.
